Fire Prevention

At Shawnee County Fire District #4, preventing fires is just as important as fighting them. Our department is dedicated to educating the public, reducing risk, and keeping our community safe year-round. Explore the resources below and reach out with any questions.

Home Fire Safety

  • Install working smoke alarms on every level of your home and test them monthly.
  • Create and practice a home escape plan with your family.
  • Keep a fire extinguisher in the kitchen and know how to use it.
  • Never leave cooking unattended, especially on the stovetop.
  • Use space heaters with caution and keep them away from flammable items.
