Fire crews from multiple jurisdictions were on the scene of a large, out-of-control grass fire early Thursday afternoon just west of the Topeka city limits.

The fire was reported around 12:20 p.m. in the 1900 block of S.W. West Union Road. At that time, the blaze was reported to be getting close to a structure.

Personnel from the Dover fire department were first on the scene.

At 12:45 p.m., a mutual-aid request was made for additional units from the Mission Township Fire Department.

Then, around 1 p.m., additional mutual aid was requested from the Auburn Fire Department in the form of a brush truck.

As crews worked to put out the blaze after 1 p.m., there were no reports of damage to any structures.
