11/19/15 Structure Fire

FULL ALARM: At approximately 2207HRS on the evening of 11/19 SCFD4 members were dispatched to a residence in the 12000BLK of South Boundary RD in Wabaunsee County on a reported house fire. Units immediately confirmed a working structure fire with the Shawnee County Emergency Communications Center and requested mutual-aid fromShawnee County Fire District #2 - Auburn Fire and Maple Hill Fire Department. A SCFD4 member was on scene approximately seven minutes after initial alarm and reported the house had collapsed. The homeowner was able to escape the residence but 911 activation was delayed as he had to run to a neighbors residence to call. Unfortunately a delayed response and remote location left little for members to save, our thoughts are with the homeowner. Units cleared this scene at approximately 0249HRS on 11/20.

RESCUE ALARM: During the initial stages of the above full alarm response a second alarm for a motor vehicle crash was received at approximately 2237HRS on 11/19 at the intersection of SW 53rd and Valencia Rd. Due to multiple apparatus and personnel having committed to the first full alarm response, SCFD4 members immediately requested a mutual-aid response from Mission Township Fire Department. Two SCFD4 units, Rescue 81 and a Fire Lt. in his POV were able to break away from the house fire and respond. This crash fortunately resulted in no injuries and we wish to thank MTFD for their quick mutual-aid assistance to our district.
